Shooting on a new music video titled "We're All Paranoid" for the three piece Southampton based band "Broken Links" has finished.
"Broken Links" are Mark Lawrence on vocals and guitar, Lewis Betteridge on bass and Phil Boulter on drums. They are heavily influenced by 90's Industrial music and artists such like Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Manic Street Preachers, The Chameleons, Massive Attack, Primal Scream and Bush.
Torrential rain drenched the set for the entire day of production during the shooting of this accident scene. These uncomfortable conditions were havoc for the cast and crew but on film were so dramatic, it was an effect that would have cost thousands if it had to have been done as a special effect. It suited the look of the scene amazingly well. The only special effects that were used was broken glass scattered over the road to double as a shattered window. Most of the accident sequence was shot hand held for that immediate feel with the exception being a single crane shot revealing the man half out of the car.
The main actors in the promo were Marc Jones and Yas Mitri. Marc was know to the production team after working with them on three web commercials for holiday parks last year. This promo marked Yas Mitri's first production with Hanover Pictures after previously working with Director Paul Dudbridge on some adverts for Sky Television and another music promo for another production company. The band performed the song "We're All Paranoid", also on the Road to Nowhere at the end of the shooting day.
As the dying man's life flashes before his eyes, we flashback to him as a baby with his mother. Some 1970's costumes were sourced by actor Lisa Hamilton-James for her and her baby Jacob, who doubled as the dying man as an infant. A camera filter (1/2 Black Pro Mist) was used on the camera to help soften the image to help sell the period feel. The colours will be further altered in the editing and grading to complete the look. Other scenes featured the man as a younger boy on his 12th birthday and sharing his first kiss.
